It Takes All Kinds Of Minds (ITAKOM for short) – is the title of the big international conference that Salvesen Mindroom and Salvesen Mindroom Research Centre at Edinburgh University will be hosting at the EICC, Edinburgh 13-14th March 2023.
The conference will focus entirely on the concept of neurodiversity and will feature neurodivergent speakers throughout, including leading researchers and scientists, educators, clinicians, and speakers with lived experience.
Our line-up of more than 45 speakers from around the world is not only hugely exciting, dynamic, and impressive but also varied and sometimes downright surprising.
How about hearing from a jewellery maker who specialises in anti-anxiety jewellery or an expert on the benefits of surfing and mental health or a renowned actor with ADHD on how he learns his lines.
The unmissable Pelle Sandstrak (Mr Tourette) will be back by popular demand as will Loretta Giorcelli Professor of Special Education and the eminent Pierre Magistretti, Emeritus Professor EPFL and University of Lausanne. The Centre for Clinical Brain Science at Edinburgh University will of course have a prominent role at the conference as will so many more experts in the field.
Once again, we will try and make sure that everybody who would like to attend will be able to.
The ticket prices will be structured, with the cheapest tickets available between March – August 2022. We will also have a bursary scheme for people who want to attend but struggle to afford it.
ITAKOM will be a hybrid event as we want to make sure that no mind is left behind – so whether you attend in person or digitally you can be there.
Registration opens with a big bang on 24th March 2022.
